Some things you might not know about Joe...

What was your first job?

"Growing up on a dairy farm I was given many chores at an early age. For example, at age six I was responsible for feeding calves, and by age nine I was carrying 4-5 gallon buckets of milk from the barn to the milk house."

What is the best advice you have ever received?

"From a good friend and early career mentor, Richard: If you want to be successful, surround yourself with successful people. He also advised me to start saving 15% in the 401(k) plan when I became eligible right out of college. That advice sparked my interest in this industry and led me to find my way into the retirement plan industry a few years later."

If you had magical powers, what is something you would change?

"I would make everyone incapable of lying. Of course, that doesn’t mean people would have to be brutally honest – they just couldn’t say anything that is not true. Just imagine how things would be different."
