Christina Tunison brings 20 years of experience guiding organizations and their employees through the complexities of retirement plan design, compliance, and participant engagement. As a Managing Director at Strategic Retirement Partners, she partners with employers to build plans that not only work on paper—but support their people in meaningful ways.

Her background spans major institutions including Bank of America, T. Rowe Price, Principal, and Mercer, where she gained hands-on expertise in 401(k), 403(b), nonqualified and executive benefit plans (for-profit and not-for-profit). Christina holds several key designations including the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA), Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF), and Nonqualified Plan Consultant (NQPC), along with FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, 66, and 24 registrations through LPL Financial and a Maryland Resident Life & Health license.

Christina is known for making complex plan topics approachable, especially for HR teams and executives balancing people and performance. Christina’s passion lies in helping values-driven employers—especially female founders, social impact leaders, and sustainability-focused teams—build retirement plans that reflect how they show up in the world. She believes your 401(k) can be more than a benefit—it can be a strategic tool to support your mission, attract and retain talent, and close wealth gaps for your team.

Christina actively contributes to advancing the industry as a Board Member of WIPN (We Inspire. Promote. Network. formerly Women in Pensions Network) and as a mentor in NAPA’s THRIVE Women’s Mentoring Program. Outside of the retirement industry, Christina sits on the Steering Committee for B Local Mid-Atlantic part of the B Corporation community.

A fifth-generation Washingtonian, Christina is deeply committed to her community, frequently volunteering and supporting local initiatives. Outside the office, you’ll likely find her rooting for the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team, Washington, D.C. local sports teams, reading in the sun, or walking the dog—usually with coffee in hand.

Some things you might not know about Christina...

What was your first job?

" I was a lifeguard from 15 through college/early twenties. I had an early love for regulation and licensing. Plus, sitting at the neighborhood pool and getting paid as a teenager was pretty cool."

What three words best describe you?

"Strategic. Translational Communicator. Mission-Driven."

What is one thing that you love to do that you get to do nearly every day?

"One thing I genuinely love doing—and get to do nearly every day—is helping plan sponsors and participants feel more confident about retirement. I get to be the translator, the connector, the bridge—taking all the complex rules and acronyms and turning them into something that actually makes sense for real people. Whether I’m working with a business owner on plan design or helping someone understand their match, I love knowing I’m part of helping someone build a better future."
